    The Two Kinds of Tired

    June 1, 2026 /

The older I get, the more I think there are two kinds of tiredness. The first comes from doing too much. This is the tiredness most of us recognize. It comes from long workdays, busy schedules, physical labor, caregiving, appointments, errands, and endless to-do lists. At the end of the day, your body aches, your feet hurt, and you know exactly why you’re tired. The second kind is harder to identify. It comes from being exposed to too much. Too much information. Too much noise. Too many notifications. Too many decisions. Too many opinions. Too many advertisements. Too many people wanting a piece of your attention. This kind of tiredness…

The Small Things Make Room for the Big Things

    May 2, 2026 /

I used to think homemaking happened in large bursts of effort. An entire day spent cleaning. Hours catching up on laundry. Big exhausting resets after everything had fallen behind. And sometimes, life truly does require those moments. But over time, I’ve discovered something gentler and far more sustainable: small things done consistently create room for the things that matter most. Wiping the counter after making coffee takes only a moment. Putting things back where they belong prevents overwhelming clutter later. Starting a load of laundry before breakfast keeps it from becoming an all-day mountain by the weekend. Picking up the living room in the evening means waking to peace instead…

What If We’re Missing More by Always Being Connected?

    April 5, 2026 /

Somewhere along the way, constant accessibility became normal. Our phones go everywhere with us: into the kitchen into the garden into restaurants beside our beds into quiet moments that once belonged only to ourselves We check notifications while folding laundry. We scroll while waiting for water to boil. We answer messages while supposedly resting. Even moments of silence are quickly filled with noise from a screen. And most of us have been taught to feel uncomfortable if we are unavailable for too long. A missed text feels urgent. An unanswered message creates guilt. A notification pulls at our attention. Social media quietly convinces us everyone else is doing more, knowing…

Rhythms Over Checklists: Creating a Home with Room to Breathe

    March 28, 2026 /

For years, I believed the problem was that I simply wasn’t organized enough. I bought planners. I made checklists. I wrote schedules. I tried to “manage my time better.” And for a little while, those things would help. Until life happened. Someone got sick. Work became overwhelming. Pain flared up. The children needed more from me. I became exhausted and ignored it until I couldn’t anymore. Then suddenly, all those unfinished lists felt like proof that I was failing. Over time, I’ve realized that many of us are trying to force ourselves to live like machines instead of human beings. Modern life pushes us toward constant productivity. We are surrounded…
