Making Space for a More Simple Life
Somewhere along the way, life became very loud.
We are constantly connected, constantly reachable, constantly consuming information, and constantly feeling like we should be doing more. Even our homes—which were once places of rest and refuge—have slowly become another source of pressure. Social media feeds us endless images of spotless kitchens, perfectly organized pantries, elaborate homesteads, and carefully curated lives. The result is that many people now feel exhausted before they’ve even started.
But I don’t believe homemaking was ever meant to feel performative.
For much of history, homes were simply lived in. They weren’t perfect, but they were cared for. Meals were prepared, laundry was folded, gardens were tended, and neighbors stopped by unannounced. People often lived closer to family, shared responsibilities, borrowed ingredients from one another, and built lives around rhythms instead of notifications.
That life wasn’t flawless. It certainly wasn’t easy. But there was space in it.
Space to breathe.
Space to rest.
Space to visit.
Space to simply be home.
In our own multigenerational household, I’ve come to appreciate many of the things modern culture often overlooks. Shared life brings challenges, of course, but it also brings support, companionship, practical help, financial wisdom, and a sense of connection that many people are deeply missing today. There is comfort in knowing you are not carrying everything entirely alone.
Over the years, I’ve also realized that simpler living is not really about creating a picture-perfect home. It’s about creating a home that feels peaceful and manageable. A home where dishes may sometimes wait until morning, but people still feel welcome. A home where meals are nourishing, even if they are simple. A home where rhythms matter more than appearances.
That’s part of the reason I created A Small Batch Home.
This space isn’t about perfection. It isn’t about doing everything from scratch or recreating some idealized version of the past. It’s simply about slowing down enough to rediscover the beauty of ordinary things.

One small step at a time.
I believe many of us are longing for a quieter way of living—not necessarily a smaller life, but a fuller one. One with more meaning, more connection, and more room to breathe.
Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey. I hope this space feels like a gentle exhale from the noise of the world and a reminder that simple things still matter very much.
Welcome to A Small Batch Home.
